Built to order - please allow 3 working days for dispatch.
The WCED 3 Phase PME Fault Detection Unit is a built-to-order EV distribution board designed to safely isolate PME faults — including PEN loss — without requiring an earth rod. Each unit continuously monitors supply voltages across all phases (400V or 415V) and automatically disconnects the system if an undervoltage or overvoltage is detected.
On undervoltage, the board will automatically reset once supply stabilises. On overvoltage, it must be manually reset using the built-in red reset button. This ensures full compliance with BS7671 Amendment 2 and offers safer EV charging in PME installations where PEN loss poses serious shock risks.
Ideal for: EV chargers (e.g. Tesla wall connectors), commercial chargepoints, and PME-based sites requiring 3-phase fault protection without ground rod installation.
Available Variants:
- WARB5100C/PME: 100A MCB + PME Relay
- WARB5100C/PMESP: 100A MCB + PME Relay + SPD
- WARB5100C/PME40R: 100A MCB + PME Relay + 40A RCBO
- WARB5100C/PME40RSP: 100A MCB + PME Relay + 40A RCBO + SPD
- WARB5100C/PME63RDSP: 100A MCB + PME Relay + 63A RCBO + SPD
Key Features:
- Monitors all three phases for PME / PEN loss faults
- Automatically disconnects all live and earth conductors
- Auto reset on undervoltage recovery
- Manual reset required for overvoltage conditions
- Compatible with 400V and 415V supplies
- Type 2 SPD included on selected models (visual indicator: Green = OK, Red = Replace)
- Built-in PME relay for compliance with BS7671:2022 Amendment 2
- Pre-assembled for quick install - built to order in 3 working days
What does this unit protect against?
It detects PME/PEN faults, overvoltage, and undervoltage across 3 phases. When triggered, it isolates all live and earth conductors to prevent dangerous touch voltages at the EV charger.
Can I use this without an earth rod?
Yes - this unit is designed to eliminate the need for an earth rod in PME installations, by providing automatic disconnection upon PEN fault detection.
What EV chargers is this suitable for?
Any 3-phase charger, including Tesla Wall Connectors and commercial chargepoints, particularly those without built-in PME protection.
What’s the difference between variants?
Some models include SPD (for surge protection), RCBOs (for overload + residual protection), or both. See variant breakdown above for full specs.
What happens if there's an undervoltage or overvoltage?
If any phase drops below 207V, the unit isolates and then automatically resets once stable. If any phase exceeds 253V, the unit isolates and requires a manual reset.
