Pre-wired in the UK and tested before dispatch – allow up to 3 working days for shipping.
The WME08/HPR40C Heat Pump Consumer Unit is a dedicated heat pump protection board designed for modern inverter-driven systems. This 8-way variant is supplied in a compact metal enclosure and fitted with a 40A Type B HP RCD, 1 x 16A C-curve MCB, 2 x 16A RCBOs, and an integrated Type 2 surge protection device.
It is a strong fit for renewable installations where the heat pump circuit needs the correct high-frequency DC fault protection associated with Type B HP devices, while also allowing for extra outgoing circuit protection within the same board. Supplied pre-configured, it helps reduce assembly time and keeps the install neat, consistent, and ready for site wiring by a qualified electrician.
Installer Note: This variant is designed for heat pump applications where smooth DC residual currents and higher-frequency fault conditions may be present. The fitted Type B HP RCD is intended for these inverter-driven environments.
Why choose the WME08/HPR40C?
The WME08/HPR40C gives you a more flexible factory-built layout than the standard 8-way board by including two fitted RCBOs alongside the main RCD, MCB, and SPD. That makes it a practical choice where extra circuit separation is needed without stepping up to a larger enclosure.
Key features
- Purpose-built heat pump board: designed for inverter-driven heat pump installations
- Factory-fitted protection: 40A Type B HP RCD, 1 x 16A C-curve MCB, 2 x 16A RCBOs, and Type 2 SPD
- Compact enclosure: 232 x 240 x 112mm metal 8-module format
- Cleaner installation: pre-configured board reduces on-site assembly time

Heat pump board variants
| Variant | Configuration | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| WME08/HP40C | 8-way board with Type B HP RCD, 16A C-curve MCBs and Type 2 SPD | Standard dedicated heat pump protection in a compact 8-way format |
| WME08/HPR40C | 8-way board with 40A Type B HP RCD, 1 x 16A C-curve MCB, 2 x 16A RCBOs and Type 2 SPD | Installations needing extra outgoing circuit protection within the same compact enclosure |
| WME12/HP40C | 12-way board with Type B HP RCD, 16A C-curve MCBs and Type 2 SPD | Larger installs or projects where additional spare ways are preferred for future expansion |
What is the difference between WME08/HP40C and WME08/HPR40C?
The WME08/HPR40C includes two 16A RCBOs as part of the factory-fitted configuration, giving more circuit separation than the standard HP40C version.
Why is a Type B HP RCD used on this board?
Heat pumps with inverter-driven components can produce smooth DC and higher-frequency residual currents. A Type B HP RCD is intended for those conditions and is better suited than standard RCD types on these applications.
Does this board include surge protection?
Yes. The unit is supplied with an integrated Type 2 SPD, helping protect the installation against transient overvoltages.
Is this board pre-wired?
Yes. It is supplied as a pre-configured heat pump consumer unit to reduce assembly time on site, though final installation and testing must be completed by a qualified electrician.
