Pre-wired in the UK and tested before dispatch – allow up to 3 working days for shipping.

The WARB5100C/PMESP is a 3 phase PME fault detection unit with Type 2 SPD for one compatible three-phase EV charge point. It combines a 5-pole 100A MCB, PME monitoring and factory-fitted surge protection in a pre-wired IP40 enclosure.

This model adds an SPD to the base WARB5100C/PME configuration but does not include a factory-fitted RCBO. Required residual-current protection must therefore be confirmed elsewhere in the completed design.

Installer Tip: Choose this version where the design requires local Type 2 surge protection but provides the necessary RCBO/RCD protection elsewhere. For a factory-fitted 40A RCBO as well, compare the WARB5100C/PME40RSP.

    Key Features

    • For one three-phase EV charge point
    • 5-pole 100A MCB with integrated PME relay arrangement
    • Factory-fitted Type 2 SPD
    • 400/415V supply monitoring
    • Linked disconnection of live, neutral and protective conductor
    • No factory-fitted RCBO

    How the PME Monitoring Works

The unit monitors the three-phase supply against the manufacturer’s stated voltage thresholds. If any phase falls below 207V or rises above 253V under the specified fault conditions, the linked switching arrangement disconnects live, neutral and the protective conductor.

Under-voltage recovery is automatic when the supply returns to the normal operating range. Following an over-voltage operation, the unit requires manual reset in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

Final selection must be based on the charger, supply, fault level, earthing arrangement and required residual-current and surge protection. Installation and verification must be completed by a suitably qualified person to the current edition of BS 7671.

What does the SP suffix mean?

This model includes a factory-fitted Type 2 surge protection device in addition to the 100A MCB and PME monitoring arrangement.

    Does it include an RCBO?

No. The required residual-current protection must be provided elsewhere in the completed circuit design.

How many EV chargers is it intended to serve?

The manufacturer describes this WARB unit family for one three-phase charge point.

Can it avoid a separate earth electrode?

The PME monitoring arrangement is designed for EV charging installations using automatic disconnection. Suitability must still be confirmed for the particular installation.

Is it a replacement for a distribution board?

No blanket substitution should be assumed. It is a dedicated PME protection assembly whose role must be coordinated with the complete distribution and protective arrangement.

The WARB5100C/PMESP is supplied pre-wired and tested. Installation and commissioning must be completed by a suitably qualified person.

    • Confirm the unit is being applied to one compatible three-phase EV charge point.
    • Verify where the required residual-current protection is provided.
    • Coordinate the 100A MCB and downstream protection with the supply, conductors, fault level and charger.
    • Connect the SPD earth path as directly as practicable in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
    • Test PME isolation, SPD status and reset modes during commissioning.
