The WARB5100C/PME is a 3 phase PME fault detection unit for one compatible three-phase EV charge point. The base model combines a 5-pole 100A MCB with Whitecliffe’s PME monitoring and switching arrangement in a pre-wired IP40 enclosure.
This version does not include a factory-fitted RCBO or SPD. It is intended for designs where the necessary residual-current and surge protection are provided elsewhere in the completed installation.
Installer Tip: Confirm the EV charger’s residual-current requirements before selecting the base model. If local surge protection is required, compare the WARB5100C/PMESP.
Key Features
- For one three-phase EV charge point
- 5-pole 100A MCB with integrated PME relay arrangement
- 400/415V supply monitoring
- Linked disconnection of live, neutral and protective conductor
- Automatic under-voltage recovery and manual over-voltage reset
- No factory-fitted RCBO or SPD
How the PME Monitoring Works
The unit monitors the three-phase supply against the manufacturer’s stated voltage thresholds. If any phase falls below 207V or rises above 253V under the specified fault conditions, the linked switching arrangement disconnects live, neutral and the protective conductor.
Under-voltage recovery is automatic when the supply returns to the normal operating range. Following an over-voltage operation, the unit requires manual reset in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
Final selection must be based on the charger, supply, fault level, earthing arrangement and required residual-current and surge protection. Installation and verification must be completed by a suitably qualified person to the current edition of BS 7671.

What is included in WARB5100C/PME?
The base model includes a 5-pole 100A MCB and PME monitoring relay arrangement. It does not include a factory-fitted RCBO or SPD.
How many EV chargers is it intended to serve?
The manufacturer describes this WARB unit family for one three-phase charge point.
Does it replace an RCBO?
No. The base product’s 100A MCB does not provide residual-current protection. The required protection must be confirmed in the complete circuit design.
Can it avoid a separate earth electrode?
The PME monitoring arrangement is designed for EV charging installations using automatic disconnection. Suitability must still be confirmed for the particular installation and current BS 7671 requirements.
What happens after a voltage fault?
Under-voltage recovery is automatic when the supply returns to range. Over-voltage operation requires manual reset.
