Description

The WPRC32BSP combines a 32A B Curve Type A RCBO and Type 2 surge protection in an IP65 plastic enclosure. The RCBO provides overcurrent and residual-current protection, while the SPD protects against transient overvoltages.

WCED specifies this standard WPRC range for EV charging equipment whose smooth residual DC current remains below 6mA. The Type A RCBO detects AC and pulsating DC residual currents; this does not establish a built-in 6mA smooth-DC trip function. Check the charger's required DC-fault protection before selecting the kit.

Key details

  • RCBO current rating: 32A
  • Overcurrent trip curve: B
  • Residual-current protection: Type A
  • Surge protection: Type 2 SPD
  • Enclosure: IP65 plastic
  • Residual-current sensitivity: 30mA

Technical specs
  • Part code: WPRC32BSP
  • RCBO current rating: 32A
  • Overcurrent trip curve: B
  • Residual-current protection: Type A
  • Surge protection: Type 2 SPD
  • Enclosure: IP65 plastic
  • Rated residual operating current: 30mA
  • Rated supply: 230V AC, 50Hz
  • Fault indication: twin handles: black only indicates overload or short circuit; both handles indicate a residual-current fault
  • SPD listed in the WPRC sheet: WSPD240, 2 pole, Type 2, 20kA/40kA

Please contact Power & Data UK for the current enclosure dimensions and available space if the kit must fit a restricted location.

WCED lists BS EN 61439-3, BS EN 61009-1 and BS EN 61643-11 for the standard WPRC range. Final installation suitability depends on the circuit design and the supplied assembly instructions.

A built-in 6mA smooth-DC detection function is not confirmed for this kit. Confirm the required EV DC-fault protection separately.

Installation notes

A qualified electrician must select, install and test the WPRC32BSP against the charger requirements, circuit design and supplied assembly instructions.

  • Verify that the 32A rating and B Curve characteristic suit the load, cable and required disconnection performance.
  • Confirm residual-current, smooth-DC and any open-PEN protection required by the complete EV installation.
  • Follow the supplied assembly line/load markings and wiring diagram; do not infer the feed direction from another RCBO or enclosure.
  • Use suitable mounting and cable-entry fittings and maintain the enclosure's IP65 rating.
  • Follow the supplied SPD connection, conductor, coordination and terminal-torque instructions.
  • Inspect, test and label the completed circuit before putting it into service.
FAQs

What does WPRC32BSP include?

A 32A B Curve Type A RCBO and Type 2 SPD in an IP65 plastic enclosure.

Does Type A mean 6mA smooth-DC detection?

No. Type A describes residual-current response to AC and pulsating DC. It does not, on its own, establish a built-in 6mA smooth-DC trip function. Confirm the charger's DC-protection arrangement and the exact supplied kit specification.

Is the RCBO curve the same as the residual-current type?

No. B or C Curve identifies the overcurrent tripping characteristic. Type A identifies the residual-current protection type. Both must suit the circuit design.

What do the two handles indicate?

WCED describes the black handle as the overcurrent function and the white handle as the residual-current function. A black-handle-only trip indicates overload or short circuit; both handles indicate a residual-current fault. Follow the supplied fault-finding instructions.

Can this protect a solar DC string or battery DC circuit?

This listing specifies a 230V AC kit. It must not be selected as DC-string or battery-DC protection. Check the inverter's AC-side protection requirements for any solar application.

Does the kit include open-PEN protection?

The listed configuration is an RCBO and SPD. Confirm any separate open-PEN protection required for the earthing arrangement; residual-current and surge protection perform different functions.
