The WCED EV Connection Unit is a compact 3-way IP40 metal enclosure designed for safe isolation and circuit protection of electric vehicle (EV) charging points. It comes factory-fitted with a 100A double-pole main switch for isolation, alongside your choice of 32A or 40A MCB to protect against overload and short-circuit faults.
This unit is commonly used where a simple, cost-effective connection point is needed for EV sockets and chargers. It ensures compliance with 18th Edition Amendment 2 and is compatible with further protection devices such as RCBOs where required.

Each version allows you to match breaker size and curve type to the EV charger’s demand profile — whether a 32A single-phase charger on a Type B breaker, or a slightly heavier 40A charger requiring extra capacity.

What is an EV Connection Unit used for?

Does this unit include surge protection?
This 3-way model does not include an SPD. For EV installs requiring surge protection, choose the 5-module EV Connection Unit with SPD.
Is it RCBO compatible?
Yes – while supplied with a main switch and MCB, the unit is RCBO-ready if additional earth leakage protection is required.
What sizes of MCB are available?
Options include 32A (Type A, B, or C curve) and 40A (Type B) to suit different charger ratings.
Can it be used outdoors?
No – this enclosure is IP40 rated for indoor use only. For external installs, use an IP65-rated enclosure.
