Description

The WMEPME10/LB combines PME fault detection, a 40A Type A RCBO and load management in a metal consumer unit. It is intended for EV charging installations where the demand on the incoming supply also needs to be monitored.

Load monitoring uses a current transformer on the incoming supply. This helps the control arrangement account for other large electrical loads, such as electric showers or heating. The current-transformer selection, relay settings and control wiring must be matched to the installation.

Key features

  • RCBO: 40A Type A, C Curve
  • Load management: incoming-supply current monitoring with relay control
  • PME protection: monitors the supply and disconnects live, neutral and earth under the stated fault conditions
  • Enclosure: IP40 metal, 12-module capacity
  • Dimensions (W × H × D): 232 × 240 × 112mm

Please contact Power & Data UK to confirm SPD fitment, the supplied current transformer and the detailed control arrangement before ordering.

Confirm the current transformer rating, RCBO pole arrangement/sensitivity and individual breaking capacity, SPD fitment and control settings with the supplied assembly instructions or contact Power & Data UK.

Installation notes

Installation and commissioning must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Use the instructions supplied with the exact assembly and the charge point, together with the applicable BS 7671 requirements.

  • Confirm the charge point's requirements for residual-current, DC leakage, overcurrent and PEN fault protection.
  • Select cable sizes and protective-device settings for the load and installation conditions.
  • Follow the wiring diagram, terminal identification and tightening torques supplied with the exact assembly.
  • Test the protection and PME disconnection/reset functions using the manufacturer's commissioning procedure.
  • Mount in an appropriate indoor location consistent with the IP40 rating.
  • Confirm the supplied current transformer and its rating, then fit and connect it exactly as instructed by WCED.
  • Set the monitoring threshold and timing for the supply and connected equipment; the relay setting range does not increase the board's 40A rating.
  • Confirm the charge point has the DC leakage protection required by the instructions.
  • Check the load-management operation during commissioning, using the supplied procedure.
  • Confirm SPD fitment and coordination where required.
FAQs

Does load balancing mean it shares charging power between multiple chargers?

The datasheet describes incoming-supply current monitoring and relay-based load management. It does not establish coordinated power sharing between multiple charge points. Confirm the required control arrangement for a multi-charger design.

Is the board rated up to 110A?

No. The board is specified with a 40A RCBO. The 10–110A figure is the manufacturer-listed load-management setting range; settings must suit the supplied current transformer and the installation.

Is an SPD or kWh meter included?

Please contact Power & Data UK to confirm the supplied equipment. The matched datasheet establishes a 40A Type A RCBO and load management but does not explicitly specify an SPD or energy meter.

Does it have ten spare circuits?

The matched datasheet lists a 12-module enclosure. This is enclosure capacity, not the number of spare outgoing circuits.

Does this unit guarantee a compliant EV installation?

Suitability depends on the charge point, earthing arrangement and circuit design. A qualified electrician must select and commission the complete installation using the supplied instructions and the applicable BS 7671 requirements.
