The WMEPME06/C40 PME Fault Detection Consumer Unit is a compact 6-module metal board fitted with a 4 Pole 63A Type A RCBO. Designed for EV charger installations and other PME applications, it provides automatic disconnection of Live, Neutral, and Earth within 5 seconds if unsafe voltage conditions are detected. This keeps installs fully compliant with BS 7671:2018 (18th Edition, Amendment 2) — eliminating the need for a separate earth rod.
Installer Tip: This unit ships with a C Curve 63A RCBO, suitable for EV circuits where inrush currents are expected. If your specification calls for surge protection as well, consider the WMEPME08/SP or WMEPME10/SP variants.

Do I still need an earth rod with this unit?
No. The integrated PEN fault detection complies with Amendment 2 and removes the need for a separate earth electrode.
Does this model include surge protection?
No – this is the RCBO-only variant. For integrated surge protection, see the WMEPME08/SP or WMEPME10/SP models.
Is it suitable for EV charger installs?
