The WMEV216C is a 2-way A-Type RCBO EV Kit fitted with a 16 A C-curve high-immunity Type A RCBO. It provides overload, short-circuit and earth-leakage protection (30 mA AC + 6 mA DC) fully in line with 18th Edition Amendment 2 requirements for EV charging circuits.

This model is ideal for 3.6 kW single-phase chargers that generate a moderate inrush current on startup. The C-curve tripping profile (5–10 × In) helps avoid nuisance tripping while maintaining full safety compliance. Compact, pre-assembled and inspection-ready, it offers dependable protection for modern EV installations.

Installer Tip: Choose the 16 A C-curve for EV chargers with internal transformers or moderate startup surge. For purely resistive or low-inrush chargers, a 16 A B-curve version is suitable.

    • 16 A C-curve Type A RCBO (30 mA AC + 6 mA DC detection)
    • Dual-pole (1P + N) isolation – disconnects both conductors
    • Compact 2-way steel enclosure with hinged cover
    • High-immunity design to prevent false trips on EV loads
    • Complies with BS EN 61009-1 and BS 7671 (A2)
Part Code Rating Curve Typical Use
    WMEV210C 10 A C Low-rated chargers or control circuits
    WMEV216C 16 A C Standard 3.6 kW EV chargers with transformer input
    WMEV220C 20 A C 4–5 kW EV chargers or commercial feeds

Each kit is pre-assembled and ready to install. For PEN-fault and load-balancing compliance, pair with our PME Fault Detection Unit. Add a Single Module SPD for surge defence where required.

Is this kit compliant for EV charging installations?

Yes – it includes a Type A RCBO with 30 mA AC + 6 mA DC detection as required under 18th Edition Amendment 2.

When should I use the 16 A C Curve version?

Use this variant for 3.6 kW chargers or circuits with moderate inrush current from transformers or motors.

Does it switch both live and neutral?

Yes – the 1P + N RCBO provides complete dual-pole isolation for safe servicing and fault clearance.

    Can I add surge protection?

Yes – fit a Single Module SPD or upstream surge unit where specified.

Is it suitable for PV as well as EV circuits?

Yes – the Type A RCBO is bi-directional and approved for use with EV and solar PV systems.
