Description

WEV2100B-100 is a 100A 100mA Type B RCD designed for applications where smooth DC residual currents and higher-frequency AC residual currents may be present. Suitable for EV charging installations, solar PV systems, UPS systems and frequency converters, it provides broader protection than conventional RCD types.

Rated at 100A with a 100mA residual current rating, this Type B RCD is intended for higher-capacity installations where upstream residual current protection is required. It complies with IEC/EN 61008-1 and IEC/EN 62423, providing reliable protection against AC, pulsating DC and smooth DC residual currents up to 1000Hz.

Installer Note: The 100mA version is commonly specified where discrimination between upstream and downstream protective devices is required or where higher residual current settings are appropriate for the installation.

Installation notes

Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 and the equipment manufacturer's requirements. Type B RCDs are intended for installations where smooth DC residual currents or higher-frequency AC residual currents may be present.

  • Install on a compatible DIN rail within a suitable enclosure
  • Confirm the installation requires a 100mA Type B RCD before fitting
  • Tighten terminals to the manufacturer's recommended torque
  • Test the device using appropriate Type B RCD test equipment during commissioning
FAQs

When should I use a 100mA Type B RCD?

A 100mA Type B RCD is typically used where a higher residual current setting is required, such as upstream protection or installations requiring discrimination between protective devices.

What does this Type B RCD detect?

The WEV2100B-100 detects AC, pulsating DC and smooth DC residual currents, making it suitable for EV charging, solar PV, UPS equipment and frequency converter applications.

Is this suitable for solar PV systems?

Yes. It is suitable for solar PV installations where a Type B RCD with a 100mA residual current rating is specified.

Can this be used for EV charging installations?

Yes, where a 100mA Type B RCD is specified by the installation design or equipment manufacturer.

Is this compliant with UK wiring regulations?

Yes. The WEV2100B-100 complies with IEC/EN 61008-1 and IEC/EN 62423 and is suitable for installations designed in accordance with BS 7671.
