PME Fault Detection Metal Consumer Unit – 40A MCB (WMKPME08/SP-C40)

The WMKPME08/SP-C40 is a metal PME fault detection consumer unit with a 40A C Curve MCB. It combines supply-voltage monitoring with overload and short-circuit protection for a suitably designed EV charging circuit.

The MCB does not provide residual-current protection. The installer must establish the required RCD and DC leakage protection for the charge point and circuit. If surge protection is required, please contact Power & Data UK to confirm the SPD fitted to this exact model before ordering.

Installation and commissioning must be carried out by a qualified electrician using the instructions supplied with the exact assembly and the applicable BS 7671 requirements.

• Check the charge point's requirements for overcurrent, residual-current, DC leakage and PEN fault protection.
• Provide the required residual-current protection as part of the circuit design; an MCB does not supply this function.
• Confirm SPD fitment and coordination where surge protection is required.
• Select cable sizes and protective-device ratings for the load and installation conditions.
• Mount in a suitable indoor location consistent with the IP40 enclosure rating.
• Follow the manufacturer's terminal identification, wiring diagram, tightening torques and commissioning procedure.
• After an over-voltage trip, investigate the cause and follow the supplied reset procedure.

Does WMKPME08/SP-C40 contain an RCBO?

WCED lists this model with a 40A C Curve MCB. An MCB provides overload and short-circuit protection, but does not provide residual-current protection. The required RCD arrangement must be established separately for the installation.

Is an SPD included?

Please contact Power & Data UK to confirm the supplied SPD configuration for WMKPME08/SP-C40 before ordering where surge protection is required.

Is it suitable for every EV charger without an earth rod?

Suitability depends on the charge point, earthing arrangement and circuit design. The installer must assess the complete protection arrangement using the board and charge-point instructions; the PME function alone does not establish compliance of the installation.

Is this an eight-way board?

WCED specifies a 10-module enclosure for this model. Enclosure module capacity is not the number of spare outgoing circuits once the protection equipment is fitted.
