Installation notes

A qualified electrician must select, install and test the WMIP40CSP using the supplied assembly instructions and the EV charger requirements.

  • Verify the 40A rating and C Curve against the load, cable and required disconnection performance.
  • Confirm the residual-current sensitivity, DC-fault protection and any open-PEN protection required by the complete installation.
  • Fix the enclosure securely using its raised keyholes and suitable fixings for the mounting surface.
  • Maintain IP65 protection using suitable cable-entry fittings. Follow the enclosure instructions if enlarging the M20 knockouts.
  • Follow the supplied assembly wiring diagram, line/load markings, terminal capacities and device-specific tightening instructions.
  • Connect and coordinate the SPD as specified by its manufacturer, then complete inspection, testing and circuit labelling.
FAQs

Is the WMIP40CSP enclosure steel or aluminium?

WCED specifies a non-combustible aluminium enclosure for this WMIP range.

What do the two RCBO handles indicate?

WCED describes a black-handle-only trip as an overload or short-circuit fault. If both the black and white handles trip, it indicates a residual-current fault. Follow the supplied fault-finding and reset instructions.

Does the unit provide everything required for an EV installation?

It includes a Type A RCBO and Type 2 SPD. The installer must also confirm the required residual-current sensitivity, DC-fault protection and any open-PEN protection against the charger and earthing arrangement.

How do I choose B Curve or C Curve?

The curve identifies the overcurrent tripping characteristic. Choose the characteristic specified for the charger and circuit design, taking account of starting current and disconnection requirements. Type A is the separate residual-current classification.

Are five outgoing circuits available?

Five modules describes the total enclosure format. The fitted protective devices occupy space, so it must not be treated as five spare outgoing ways. Confirm any additional device layout before ordering.

Can it be mounted outdoors?

The enclosure is IP65-rated. Use a suitable mounting location and correctly sealed cable entries in accordance with the supplied instructions.
