Description

The WME08/HPR40C heat pump consumer unit adds two 16A RCBOs to a metal board equipped with a 40A Type B HP RCD, Type 2 surge protection, main switch and one 16A MCB. Choose this configuration when your heat-pump project needs the extra RCBO-protected outgoing circuits alongside the specified heat-pump protection.

The RCBOs combine overcurrent and residual current protection for their respective circuits. They let you specify those outgoing circuits with individual protective devices in the same 232 × 240 × 112mm enclosure, rather than choosing the MCB-only HP40C configuration.

Why choose the HPR40C version?

  • Two additional 16A RCBOs: useful where your circuit schedule calls for individual residual current and overcurrent protection on two outgoing circuits.
  • Type B HP RCD included: the WHP device is designed for smooth DC and higher-frequency residual currents. Confirm its suitability against the heat-pump instructions.
  • Surge protection in the assembly: the fitted Type 2 SPD addresses transient overvoltages.
  • A defined supplied configuration: enclosure and devices can be checked together against the project schedule before ordering.

Check the circuit arrangement before ordering

Whitecliffe lists one 16A C-curve MCB and two 16A RCBOs for this model. The gallery shows a B16-marked MCB, so confirm the supplied MCB curve and both RCBO specifications when agreeing your order. The Type B HP description applies to the WHP RCD; it does not establish that the two additional RCBOs are Type B HP devices.

Also confirm which circuits are supplied through the shared RCD and how the devices are coordinated. Individual RCBOs do not, by themselves, guarantee that another upstream protective device cannot trip. The 8-module enclosure description does not mean eight spare outgoing ways.

Confirm your board and lead time

contact Power & Data UK quoting WME08/HPR40C. Send your heat-pump make and model, the intended load on each outgoing circuit, required device ratings and trip curves, quantity and delivery date. That gives us the information needed to check the build and availability for your job. If the product is shown as unavailable, request a current lead time before scheduling installation.

Installation notes

A qualified electrician must confirm the circuit arrangement and install and commission the supplied assembly to its instructions.

  • Check the heat-pump instructions for the required RCD characteristics and outgoing breaker specification.
  • Confirm the MCB trip curve and the two RCBOs' ratings, residual current types, sensitivities and intended circuit assignments.
  • Check whether each circuit is downstream of the shared RCD and assess coordination with upstream devices.
  • Check cable sizing, fault protection, mounting conditions, SPD earthing and the supplied terminal tightening instructions.
  • Check the available mounting space against 232 × 240 × 112mm (W × H × D) and complete the required testing before energising.
FAQs

What do I get with the HPR40C version?

The manufacturer lists a metal enclosure with a 40A RCD, surge protection, one 16A C-curve MCB and two 16A RCBOs. This product uses the Type B HP RCD. A main switch is also included; confirm the complete device schedule before ordering.

Are the two extra RCBOs also Type B HP?

The Type B HP designation applies to the WHP RCD. Do not assume it describes the additional RCBOs. Confirm their residual current type, sensitivity, trip curve and circuit assignment for your installation.

Will a fault on one RCBO leave every other circuit running?

That depends on the wiring arrangement and coordination with upstream protection. Each RCBO protects its own circuit, but an upstream RCD or breaker may also operate. Agree the assembly design if continuity of other circuits is a priority.

Does this board have eight spare ways?

No. Eight module is the manufacturer's enclosure description. The fitted devices occupy space, and additional circuit capacity must be confirmed against the actual layout.

Why does the photograph show a B16 MCB?

The gallery shows an example assembly with a B16-marked MCB. Whitecliffe's current HPR40C listing specifies a 16A C-curve MCB. Confirm the supplied curve when agreeing the board specification.

When should I choose the HP40C instead?

Compare the WME08/HP40C when your design calls for the MCB-equipped board without the two additional RCBOs. Select from the actual circuit schedule, rather than the enclosure size alone.

How do I check availability or request a different build?

contact Power & Data UK with the product code, circuit schedule, quantity and required delivery date. Availability and custom configurations need confirming before ordering.
