The WMRC40CSP is a 4 Way Metal EV Protection Unit that combines a 40 A C-Curve A-Type RCBO with a Type 2 SPD inside a durable, powder-coated steel housing. Built for EV charger installations with higher inrush or inductive loads, it delivers overload, earth-leakage, and surge protection in one fully pre-wired, regulation-compliant assembly.
Installer Tip: Use this 40 A C-Curve version for heavier-duty single-phase chargers or inverter-driven systems where inrush currents exceed the range of a B-Curve device. The bi-directional RCBO ensures correct operation even on circuits with backfeed potential.
| Model | RCBO Rating | Curve Type | SPD Type | Ingress Rating | Common Use |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| WMRC32BSP | 32 A | B Curve | Type 2 | IP40 (Metal) | Standard domestic EV charger ≤ 7.4 kW |
| WMRC40BSP | 40 A | B Curve | Type 2 | IP40 (Metal) | High-load EV charger ≤ 9.6 kW |
| WMRC32CSP | 32 A | C Curve | Type 2 | IP40 (Metal) | Commercial EV charger or mixed load |
| WMRC40CSP | 40 A | C Curve | Type 2 | IP40 (Metal) | Heavier-duty or inverter-driven EV systems |
This 40 A C-Curve variant is the highest-capacity model in the WMRC series, built for commercial or industrial EV installations where higher startup currents or motorised components are present. Fully wired, tested, and compliant with BS 7671 for safe and reliable operation.
This unit is supplied fully pre-wired for speed and consistency on site. It provides overload, earth-leakage, and surge protection within a compact metal housing. Final connection must be completed by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671.
Yes – the unit meets all requirements of BS 7671 Amendment 2 for A-Type RCD and Type 2 surge protection in EV supply circuits.
C-Curve RCBOs are better suited to installations with high inrush currents (such as EV chargers, compressors, or motors), reducing nuisance trips without compromising protection.
No – this unit provides overload, earth-leakage, and surge protection only. For PEN compliance, pair with a PME Fault Detection Unit.
Yes – the bi-directional RCBO detects faults irrespective of current direction, making it suitable for EV or renewable systems with backfeed potential.
A 4-way metal enclosure pre-fitted with a 40 A C-Curve A-Type RCBO and a Type 2 SPD (20 kA / 40 kA), fully wired and ready for installation.
