Description

WEV4100B-030 is a 100A 30mA 4 Pole Type B RCD designed for applications where smooth DC residual currents and higher-frequency AC residual currents may be present. Suitable for EV charging installations, solar PV systems, UPS systems and frequency converters, it provides broader protection than conventional RCD types.

Rated at 100A, this Type B RCD is designed for higher-capacity three-phase electrical systems including commercial EV charging, solar PV installations, UPS equipment and industrial inverter applications. It complies with IEC/EN 61008-1 and IEC/EN 62423, providing reliable protection against AC, pulsating DC and smooth DC residual currents.

Installer Note: The 100A model is intended for higher-current three-phase installations where a Type B RCD is specified for EV charging, solar PV or other inverter-driven equipment.

Installation notes

Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician in line with BS 7671. Type B RCDs are required wherever smooth DC leakage may occur.

  • Select the 63A rating for high-load or multi-device installations
  • Fit in a suitable enclosure with correct ventilation and spacing
  • Check earth fault loop impedance for safe disconnection times
  • Clearly label protected circuits during handover
FAQs

When should I choose a 100A Type B RCD?

The WEV4100B-030 is intended for higher-capacity three-phase installations where a 100A Type B RCD is required, including larger EV charging systems, commercial solar PV installations, UPS equipment and industrial inverter applications.

Is this RCD suitable for industrial use?

Yes – its 63A rating makes it suitable for industrial and commercial systems with inverter drives, UPS, or multiple chargers.

Is it compliant with UK regs?

Yes – tested to IEC/EN 62423 and fully compliant with BS7671:2018+A2:2022.

Do I need this for EV chargers?

Yes – most EV chargers mandate a Type B RCD. For TN-C-S (PME) systems, pair with a PEN fault detection device.

What sensitivity is this RCD?

30mA, designed for personal protection while meeting EV and solar compliance standards.
