The WCED WEV2 Series B-Type RCD provides advanced protection against smooth DC residual fault currents, as well as AC and pulsating DC faults up to 1000Hz. Fully compliant with IEC/EN 62423, it’s the correct choice for EV chargers, solar PV inverters, UPS systems, high-frequency converters, and other installations where DC leakage may be present.
Its two-pole design and 30mA sensitivity deliver dependable disconnection and safety in both domestic and commercial boards. Available in 40A and 63A variants, this device meets 18th Edition requirements for specialist circuits.
- Type B protection – detects AC, pulsating DC, and smooth DC leakage currents
- EV & renewable ready – ideal for EV chargers, solar PV, UPS, and frequency converters
- Two-pole configuration – suited to single-phase applications
- Available ratings: 40A and 63A
- Compliant with IEC/EN 62423 – meets 18th Edition requirements
When do I need a Type B RCD?
Type B RCDs are required where smooth DC residual currents may occur, such as EV chargers, solar PV inverters, and certain industrial equipment.
Is this suitable for EV charging points?
Yes – this unit is designed to meet the requirements for EV charger installations where DC leakage is possible.
Can it be used in domestic boards?
Yes – provided the board can accept a 2-pole device and the circuit requires Type B protection.
What’s the difference between Type A and Type B RCDs?
Type A devices detect AC and pulsating DC faults, while Type B devices also detect smooth DC faults and high-frequency leakage currents.
