Circuit Protection Devices - MCBs, RCDs & RCBOs
Our circuit protection devices cover everything from MCBs and RCDs to modern RCBOs for domestic and commercial installations. All products are BS EN certified and compliant with the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, giving you reliable protection against overload, short circuit and earth leakage faults.
Whether you're upgrading a consumer unit, protecting a submain, or specifying protection for new builds, we stock trade-ready breakers in a full range of current ratings and trip curves.
Quick overview: MCBs protect against overload and short circuit. RCDs protect against earth leakage. RCBOs combine both protections in one device and are now widely preferred for modern UK installs.

With switched live and neutral disconnection, bi-directional wiring for solar PV and inverter-fed systems, and high immunity electronics to minimise nuisance trips, it is...
Choosing the Right Circuit Protection
Every installation requires correctly specified protection to comply with BS 7671 and ensure safe fault disconnection. Selecting the right device depends on load type, fault risk, and installation layout.
MCBs – Overcurrent Protection
Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCBs) protect cables and equipment from overload and short circuit faults. Available in B, C and D curves to suit domestic circuits, commercial lighting, motor loads and higher inrush equipment.
Shop MCBs for domestic and light commercial installs.
RCDs – Earth Leakage Protection
Residual Current Devices (RCDs) disconnect supply when earth leakage is detected, protecting against electric shock and fire risk. Commonly rated at 30mA for personal protection.
For DC-sensitive applications such as EV chargers or heat pumps, see our Type B RCDs.
RCBOs – Combined Protection Per Circuit
RCBOs combine overload, short circuit and earth leakage protection in a single device. This allows each circuit to operate independently, reducing disruption if a fault occurs.

Key Specification Considerations
- Trip curve: B-curve for domestic, C-curve for mixed commercial, D-curve for high inrush loads.
- Current rating: Match to cable size and design current to avoid nuisance tripping.
- Type A vs Type B: Type A is standard for modern electronics; Type B required where smooth DC leakage may occur.
- Breaking capacity: Ensure kA rating matches prospective fault current.
