The WFD116B-030 is a 16A, B Curve Arc Fault Detection (AFDD) RCBO, providing arc fault detection, residual current protection (30mA), short-circuit, and overload protection in one device. Designed to BS 7671:2018 (18th Edition) standards, it offers advanced fire prevention and peace of mind for installers and property owners.

Unlike standard RCBOs, this AFDD RCBO includes a microprocessor-driven arc detection system. It monitors the electrical waveform and trips instantly when dangerous arc impulses occur, caused by damaged cables, loose terminations, faulty appliances, or ageing wiring. Both live and neutral poles are disconnected, ensuring complete circuit isolation.

Installer Tip: The 16A version is well-suited to kitchen ring circuits, small power circuits, and areas with higher load appliances where fire protection is a must.

    Protective Coverage

    This AFDD RCBO protects against:

    • Arc faults – series and parallel
    • Residual current leakage – Type A (AC + pulsed DC)
    • Overload and short-circuit conditions
    • Overvoltage – trips at 275V ±5%

What is the WFD116B-030 used for?

Best suited for small power circuits, kitchen rings, and areas with higher fire risk. It offers full AFDD protection in a compact 1-module device.

Does this device isolate both live and neutral?

Yes – the switched neutral design provides complete circuit isolation for safety.

Is it compliant with UK regulations?

Yes – it complies with BS 7671:2018+A2 and is certified to BS EN AFDD and RCBO standards.

What’s the main difference between a 16A AFDD RCBO and a standard 16A RCBO?

The AFDD RCBO detects arc faults caused by damaged wiring or poor connections, which standard RCBOs cannot detect.

    What other sizes are available?

    The WFD1 Series includes 6A, 10A, 20A, 32A, and 40A models. This page covers the 16A WFD116B-030.
