The WKC306D 3 Pole 10kA MCB is a 6A D Curve breaker designed for protecting three-phase circuits with very high inrush currents. With a 10kA breaking capacity and compliance with BS 7671 (18th Edition), it is ideal for specialist industrial applications such as welders, transformers, large motors, and heavy plant machinery. DIN rail mountable, compact, and bi-directional, it provides robust overload and short-circuit protection in demanding environments.

Installer Tip: Use D Curve breakers where circuits experience high inrush. For standard resistive loads, see the B Curve. For moderate inductive circuits, choose the C Curve.

    Key Features

    • 6A rated current – for small three-phase circuits with high inrush
    • D Curve tripping – operates at 10–20x In
    • 10kA breaking capacity – handles high fault currents
    • 3 Pole protection: safeguards all phases
    • Bi-directional: wiring can be connected top or bottom
    • Applications: welders, transformers, industrial motors, machinery

    Compare 6A 3 Pole Variants

Model Curve Rated Current Breaking Capacity
    WKC306B B Curve 6A 10kA
    WKC306C C Curve 6A 10kA
    WKC306D (This Product) D Curve 6A 10kA

When should I use a D Curve breaker?

When protecting circuits with high inrush currents such as welders, transformers, or heavy motors.

How does D Curve differ from B and C?

B Curve trips at 3–5x In, C Curve at 5–10x In, and D Curve at 10–20x In — making it the slowest to trip, suitable for heavy machinery.

What does 10kA breaking capacity mean?

It’s the maximum short-circuit current the breaker can safely interrupt. 10kA rating is standard for commercial and industrial boards.

    Is the WKC306D bi-directional?

Yes — it can be wired from either top or bottom connections.

Can this be used in EV or PV installs?

It’s generally reserved for heavy plant and machinery, but can be used where inrush currents are extreme. For EV and PV, C Curve models are usually more suitable.

    • Product Code: WKC306D
    • Type: Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB)
    • Poles: 3P (three-phase)
    • Rated Current: 6A
    • Curve: D Curve
    • Breaking Capacity: 10kA
    • Mounting: DIN rail, 18mm per module
    • Functions: Overload & short-circuit protection, switching, isolation

Mount inside commercial or industrial distribution boards. Curve selection must match the circuit type:

    • B Curve: lighting and socket circuits (resistive)
    • C Curve: motors, HVAC, EV chargers (moderate inrush)
    • D Curve: welders, transformers, large motors, plant machinery (high inrush)

Always ensure the site fault level does not exceed 10kA. Installation must follow BS 7671 and be carried out by a qualified electrician.
