It's a ready-to-fit solution for installers working with Tesla chargers and other EV brands where Type A RCDs are not suitable.

Why do some EV chargers need a B-Type RCD?
B-Type RCDs detect smooth DC leakage – a requirement for certain EV charge points (including Tesla wall connectors) that can bypass Type A protection. For standard chargers, see our A-Type RCBO EV Kit.
Is this kit compliant with 18th Edition regulations?

Can I use this with a Tesla wall charger?
Yes – this unit is specifically recommended for Tesla EV charger installs that specify B-Type RCD protection. For indoor installs, it pairs with our 4 Way Consumer Unit range.
What’s the difference between a Type A and Type B RCD?
Type A RCDs detect AC + pulsating DC faults. Type B RCDs detect all of those plus smooth DC – which is crucial for EV charging stations using non-isolated inverters. For standard Type A protection, see our 2 Pole Type A RCD.
Does this come in an IP-rated enclosure?
No – this version is supplied in a standard enclosure. If you need IP65, contact us for alternative models or consider the WPRC RCBO + SPD Enclosure.
