Do I need a separate MCB for the SPD?
No – these boards use a single-module SPD that doesn’t require a separate MCB, saving space.
Are these compliant with the 18th Edition?
Yes – all models meet BS 7671:2018 Amendment 2 requirements for surge protection.
What’s the benefit of a Type 2 SPD?
It protects circuits and connected equipment from transient overvoltages caused by lightning strikes or switching events.
- Incoming Device: 100A main switch
- Surge Protection: Type 2 SPD (IEC 61643-11 & EN 61643-11 compliant)
- Material: Non-combustible steel, polyester powder-coated
- Knockouts: 25mm & 32mm (top/bottom), 40mm (sides/back), large rear slots
- Wiring Space: Raised DIN rail with generous cable room
- Compliance: BS EN 61439-3, BS 7671:2018 Amendment 2
Must be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with current wiring regulations. Ensure SPD earth leads are kept as short as possible for effective surge protection.
- Mount securely using keyhole fixings
- Use suitable glands for cable entries
- Verify SPD operation after commissioning
