The WCED EV Connection Unit is a compact, wall-mountable 5-module board that combines surge protection, overload protection, and full isolation – all in one enclosure. Pre-wired and fitted with a 100A main switch, Type 2 SPD, and your choice of MCB (20A, 32A or 40A), this is a ready-to-fit solution for EV charger installs that require regulation-compliant protection and disconnection.

Ideal for residential EV charge points (both tethered and untethered), this board provides full protection against overcurrent and transient overvoltage events while meeting the isolation requirements of BS7671 Amendment 2. For PME compliance, pair with our PME Fault Detection Unit.

Installer Tip: This unit removes the need for separate isolator and SPD purchases, cutting install time and ensuring BS7671 compliance in one enclosure.

    Available Variants:

    • WEVCU20BSP: 100A Main Switch + 20A MCB + SPD
    • WEVCU32BSP: 100A Main Switch + 32A MCB + SPD
    • WEVCU40BSP: 100A Main Switch + 40A MCB + SPD

    Key Features:

    • Includes 100A double pole isolator switch
    • Choice of 20A / 32A / 40A MCB for overload protection
    • Built-in Type 2 SPD – protects against voltage spikes
    • Pre-wired and housed in a 5-way mini metal consumer unit
    • Surface-mountable with protective front door
    • Fast install – ready to fit out of the box

Why choose this EV Connection Unit?

Because it’s everything you need in one compact enclosure – isolation, surge protection, and overload protection. No extra SPD or isolator needed, no messy wiring, and no compliance headaches. Just pick your breaker size (20A, 32A, or 40A) and you’ve got a pre-wired, regulation-ready unit that saves time on every install.

    Does this include surge protection?

Yes – every variant has a built-in Type 2 SPD to protect the EV charger and supply circuit from transient overvoltage. For three-phase systems, see our 3 Phase SPD Device.

Is the isolator switch compliant with EV charger regulations?

Yes – the integrated 100A double pole main switch provides full local isolation as required by BS7671:2018 Amendment 2. For outdoor-rated versions, see our 8 Way EV Connection Unit.

Do I need to buy an extra SPD or RCBO?

No – the unit already includes SPD and MCB overload protection. If earth leakage protection is required, consider an A-Type RCBO EV Kit or check that the EV charger has built-in 30mA RCD protection.

Can I choose which MCB is included?

Yes – select from 20A, 32A, or 40A options. Ensure the breaker rating matches the EV charger’s requirements. For alternatives, see our 10kA MCB range.

Is this suitable for domestic installs?

Yes – it’s ideal for residential single-phase EV charge points and also used in light commercial applications. For combined solar + EV systems, check our 5 Module EV & Solar Board.

This EV connection unit should always be installed by a qualified electrician. It’s designed for installs where isolation, surge protection, and overload protection are required at the EV supply point. No extra SPD or isolator is needed.

    • Mount close to the EV charge point using 3-core SWA or split tails
    • Ensure the SPD earth path is kept short and direct
    • Torque all terminals to manufacturer specifications
    • Check the MCB rating matches the EV charger’s load and breaker curve
