The WSPD240 is a 2 Pole Type 2 Surge Protection Device designed to protect 230V electrical installations from transient overvoltages caused by power surges and lightning-related surge activity. With a 20kA nominal / 40kA maximum discharge rating, it is suited to board-level surge protection where a compact standalone SPD is required.
This 40kA SPD can be used in suitable consumer units, EV-ready boards, heat pump setups and distribution circuits where Type 2 surge protection is specified. Its 2-pole DIN rail format gives installers a practical single-phase surge protection device for 230V applications.
Installer note: This is a standalone Type 2 SPD. For complete pre-built surge protection assemblies, see our surge protection boards and accessories.
- 2 Pole Type 2 SPD – suitable for single-phase 230V surge protection applications
- 20kA nominal / 40kA maximum discharge rating – protects against transient overvoltages
- DIN rail mounted – compact 2-module format for board installation
- Standalone surge protection device – useful where a separate SPD is required
- Mechanical status indication – quick visual check during inspection
- 36mm wide body – compact 2-pole format
- IEC 61643-11 compliant – recognised SPD product standard

The WSPD240 gives installers a compact 2 pole SPD option for single-phase board-level surge protection where a separate DIN rail surge protection device is required.
What is the WSPD240 surge protection device used for?
The WSPD240 is a 2 pole Type 2 SPD used to help protect 230V boards and connected equipment from transient overvoltages caused by power surges and lightning-related surge activity.
Is the WSPD240 a 2 pole SPD?
Yes. The WSPD240 is a 2 pole surge protection device with a 20kA nominal / 40kA maximum discharge rating.
What is the difference between WSPD140, WSPD240, WSPD340 and WSPD440?
WSPD140 is 1 pole, WSPD240 is 2 pole, WSPD340 is 3 pole and WSPD440 is 3P+N. The correct option depends on the board type and surge protection arrangement required.
Can I use this as a standalone surge protection device?
Yes. The WSPD240 is supplied as a standalone DIN rail SPD for suitable board-level surge protection applications.
What does the red / green indicator show?
The indicator provides a visual check of the SPD status. Green normally shows the device is operational, while red indicates the module needs attention or replacement.
Can I use this in an EV board or heat pump setup?
Yes, where a 2 pole Type 2 SPD is suitable for the board design. For complete pre-built options, see our surge protection range.
